Apple, AT&T, Verizon Announce Record New iPad Sales
While iPads may not have sold out everywhere , it seems this is more because many were stocked, rather than any shortage of demand. AT&T, Verizon, and Apple have claimed exceedingly good sales of the new iPad over the weekend. On the financial conference call this morning , Tim Cook said “We had a record weekend, and we’re thrilled with it.” Those aren’t firm numbers, but it’s something.
AT&T likewise released a small announcement , simply saying “On Friday, March 16, AT&T set a new single-day record for its iPad sales and activations, demonstrating robust demand for the new iPad on the nation’s largest 4G network, covering nearly 250 million people.”
Verizon’s note was actually slightly less upbeat, but still good. According to AllThingsD , the company said “We are quite pleased with sales, which have been brisk through the weekend, and we are excited to offer customers an alternative that lets them enjoy their new iPad on the nation’s largest 4G LTE network.”
